It’s been a long hard road, but the hard work
has finally paid off for
Anthony Morrison!
After 2 huge wins in a 3 week period, Morrison, now going by the
ring name “Cheesesteak”, has gotten the attention of the folks
at the WEC.
At Ring of Combat 27, Morrison defeated Kurt
Pellegrino pupil, and WEC prospect Jeff Lentz to claim the
organization’s 145-pound title. The victory was a highlight in
his career but the win was bittersweet.

“When I won the belt I felt good but the
second I got out of the cage it was back to reality; I had to
deal with burying my aunt and cousin. So while I was happy, the
family loss was heavy on me,” said the
WKA 145 lb MMA
champion. “I fought that fight with a heavy heart; my aunt
had a heart attack, cousin got shot, the win was kind of
surreal.”

Building upon a big win, Morrison entered the cage only 2 weeks
later to take on WEC prospect and UFC vet Alvin Robinson.
Morrison quickly defeated Robinson by TKO in the opening minute
of the 1st round.
With this momentum Morrison signs a
multi fight deal with the WEC and will face the division’s
former champion Mike Brown on January 10th.
